Double glazed units are filled with low E gas and roof lights include self-cleaning glass. WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF ALUMINIUM?

Aluminium glazing uses minimal, slim profiles that maximise external views. This ultra-thin framing is possible because of its inherent strength, and suits any design of house. UPVC and timber have much bulkier profiles which compromise the amount of light coming into the building and often are not as asthetically pleasing because of this.

Aluminium is 3 times stronger than UPVC and 4.3 times stronger than wood and, unlike many other materials, it will not swell, crack, split or warp over time. Aluminium's lifespan is about 20-30 years. In comparison UPVC's life span is 15-20 years but it can start looking tired after 5-10 years. Also, due to the strength of aluminium windows and doors, more sturdy locks can be fitted for increased security. Maintenance for aluminium windows and doors is simple, no painting or treating, just an occasional wash will keep it looking good.
3. DESIGN FLEXIBILITY
Aluminium provides design flexibility which is only limited by the imagination. It has pleasing asthetics due to its slim profile, modern appearance and choice of frame colour. Furthermore, powder coating can be in matt, satin or gloss finish. The strength of aluminium allows for more choice; for example, very large sliding or bi fold doors/windows/rooflights are easily manufactured using aluminium, but could not be considered in UPVC.
